The argument provided above falls apart on further scrutiny due to an apparent logical problem in it. It assumes certain information about a person that paints the person in question in an unfavorable light and then concludes that, therefore, anything that this person proposes is illegitimate. Thus, two logical fallacies occur simultaneously, the first one being the ad hominem argument, and the second and the more evident one being the case of a red herring. The latter is used as the means of diverting the audience’s attention from Jensen’s proposal to an irrelevant yet contentious issue. The ad hominem fallacy occurs as a valid idea of an on-site daycare center is dismissed due to the ostensibly poor reputation of the person suggesting it.
