The most uncomfortable model is the moral one because it judges a person according to his/her failures and “bad” deeds. That is why the sociocultural model is more effective, but it is clear that it is not perfect either. The main drawback of sociological and socio-psychological studies of the causes of drug addiction is, firstly, inattention to the fact that at each stage of familiarizing with drugs, the causal factors may be different, and the reasons for the first test of a soft drug, a hard drug, as well as further systematic their use. Secondly, the reasons can vary significantly for different social groups, cultures, social conditions, areas of residence. Thirdly, the causes of drug use are often mixed with subjective motives, post facto meaningful. Such explanations by the addict of their actions usually take the form of justification of their actions, are too dramatic. At the same time, some studies place an excessive emphasis only on the objective causes of drug use to the detriment of the subjective.
