Read “Cathedral” by Raymond Carver. When does the husband show his insecurities as they entertain the Blind man Robert?

The first mentioned insecurity is related to religious connotations. The skeptical expression about the dinner prayer shows that the narrator has no sincere faith. Another insecurity is depicted in the scene of the dialogue between the narrator’s wife and Robert. The narrator feels anxious and angry because a disabled man is better than him at communication.
