The President has a vested authority to appoint officers of the US, federal judges, cabinet-level department heads, and ambassadors. However, this power must be followed with the consent of the Senate before being exercised. President Trump’s most controversial appointments of Jeff Sessions for Attorney General and Steve Bannon for Chief Strategist and Senior Counsellor.
