According to Calhoun, the North is “winning” over the issue of slavery due to having the absolute control power over the Government. As a result, the interests that the South has are not taken into consideration, putting the North’s needs first. The suggested solution to the problem is settling the system of justice which would lead to the improvement of the South’s situation.
