Brown considers that Lincoln himself does not present any danger, but his party poses a serious threat for Georgia. Particularly, Brown is concerned about the unclear outcomes of the slavery cancellation. Whereas he is not sure what will come, he is convinced that the results of abolition will be ruinous for the state. Hence, he thinks it would be a better idea for the state to leave the Union in the wake of Lincoln’s election.
