Supposing I can create my social policy, I would like to develop mental health policy alleviating mental issues related to the ongoing pandemic. The pandemic countermeasures place necessary restrictions on citizens but raise public unrest and economic insecurity. The policy would address anxiety and depression induced by the pandemic.

The procedure implies establishing social support centers with free psychological counseling for people suffering mentally from the pandemic. These support centers could accommodate volunteers providing essential products as well. The policy primarily targets people prone to mental disturbance, namely individuals with mood and anxiety disorders. The goal is to make this policy nationwide but starting locally and then expanding gradually.

I would ask the government for the money to implement my social policy, contacting senator Cory Booker for assistance. Booker supports expanding access to mental care, and he could help fund such a policy. However, federal funding is needed to suffice the scope of the policy. First, the premises must be arranged to operate; then, I will accommodate professionals and supporting staff for the actual implementation. Informing citizens about the policy and locations of support centers is also necessary.

Psychological counseling will be provided to people daily via telecommunication and locally. It is estimated that 57.8 million Americans live with mental issues and the pandemic only worsens the mental health crisis. The policy will be active until the situation with the pandemic resolves and economical, and public security stabilizes. Healthcare providers, notably psychologists and psychiatrists, will be needed to implement the policy with the help of other human service workers who have training or experience in mental health support.

Education and healthcare policies are affecting my life the most at the moment. The gun policy affects me somewhat mentally. While education and health care have had a positive impact on my life so far, gun policy contributes to some worries. I would make gun laws stricter, expand background checks before giving gun permits, and restrict sales to individuals with mental issues. Finally, COVID-19-related policies have affected New York citizens as they affected everyone else in the US. Mandatory tests for the disease, massive vaccination campaigns, quarantine and isolation precautions, etc., were implemented after the pandemic started.
