The findings of the study revealed stark differences in people’s willingness to offer assistance to strangers. The two highest-ranking cities were Rio and San Jose, which are located in Latin America. Generally, the experimenters found out that residents of Portuguese and Spanish-speaking cities were kinder to strangers and offered help more readily. It was noteworthy that the cities that reported high instances of political instability, crime, and a plethora of environmental and social problems we’re kinder to strangers than those in other countries. Examples include Mexico City, San Salvador, and Madrid.
