The situation presented in the video confirms the tendency that people to be influenced by the obvious. In other terms, we are affected primarily by appearance, gestures, and demeanor. Even if we are faced with a person expressing brilliant ideas, we tend to consider them less significant because of their image and manners. Thirdly, the video is a clear example of the perception’s tendency that implies that we are influenced strongly by our expectations. In other words, our expectations predetermine our perception of the other. However, this statement does not fit this situation because the abilities demonstrated by Susan fundamentally changed the audience’s perception: people cried and gave a standing ovation to her.
