The perspectives on what it is like to be a human differ in the Western and Eastern ideologies. In the Western model, the core principle concept that can be outlined is the focus on one’s needs and the ability to overcome challenges. Scientific and technological accomplishments in Western societies are valued more than intellectual and philosophical ones, which reflects the perspectives on being a human. Within the Eastern model, there is less emphasis on the individual’s needs and more focus on selflessness and the desires of others. Being a human means providing for the community and sharing what one has with others. The possible historical reasons for such differences are that Western societies have developed as individualistic ones, while Eastern ones are primarily collectivistic in their nature.
