“People-first” culture can be defined as a corporate philosophy prioritizing people and their happiness. This principle applies to all stakeholders involved and aims to keep the business successful. As reported by Hougaard, “when people feel valued and cared for, theydo their work with stronger intrinsic motivation, a deeper sense of meaning, and a greater level of engagement.” Leaders with a people-centered approach realize that all stakeholders make a company successful, including employees, shareholders, and customers. As stated by Birbrager and Konrad, Zuccarini had the “people-first focus” implemented at different stages, such as hiring, onboarding, training, and career development.
Besides, the Restaurant Group provided an excellent dining experience to its customers with innovative food, first-rate service, and a pleasant ambiance. Based on the company’s success, I agree with the steps taken by Gusto 54 to build its people-first culture as it promoted innovative experimentation and the organization’s growth. The key challenges facing Gusto 54 in January 2020 were economic uncertainty associated with additional risks such as the need to cut back on investment, production, or employee salary.
