A geographic mal-allocation of the medical doctor employment power is evident in America because the number of doctors does not match the required delivery of medical services. Since factors such as the population size and need determine the number of physicians, delivery of medical care is based on the ability to pay, thus causing the labor force problem in America. Most physicians opt to work in urban areas where they can obtain a high income and other social amenities, unlike in rural areas. Many physicians thus concentrate on delivering health care in the urban and industrialized areas where the working environment is conducive.
