The mirror image rule is a law that requires the terms of acceptance to be the same as the terms in the offer. A slight difference may amount to a counteroffer as stipulated in the law. As shown in the case study by Beatty and Samuelson, the professor was denied a chance to chair the department of art history due to a 14 days difference in the contract’s agreement. One may protest the rationale used to determine this case, but whether the judgment was fair or not, the law was upheld.
