In its greatest splendor and prospering stage, the Catholic Church has become a large corporation with multiple denominations that were difficult to control. As a result, the power given to some of its servants was used for their profit and well-being. Thus, it was doomed to become corrupt since its centralized structure and the need for economic support from wealthy people enabled the selfish management of resources by bishops and other clerics.
