The Thirty Years War’s nature is intricate and ambiguous for a modern person. On the one hand, it began as a religious conflict between Protestant and Catholic states since people were genuine believers and wanted to defend their faith; yet, the War soon became political strife of powerful European dynasties. Therefore, it can be considered a religious war with much political context.
