Morgan’s 19th-century fishing village was picturesque of Morgan embedded in cement. Colonel Edward Green bought the monument of Morgan and built a cofferdam to conserve this monument. This dam had water supplies and was surrounded by shops that made the site attractive to people. Colonel Green invested over a quarter-million dollars to succeed in this project. His money was part of the fortunes he received from his mother, one of the richest American women during those times. As part of his strategy to attract and maintain visitors, he allowed free viewing of Morgan, and this worked out well for him.

Unfortunately, after the death of Colonel Green, Morgan’s fate remained uncertain. Two disasters struck; Mr. Green had made no legal will about Morgan, and a hurricane hit her in 1938. This threw the future Morgan into disarray, prompting the implementation of several measures to save her. The formation of a subcommittee to solicit funds did not help the situation. However, in 1941, Carl Cutler, through the help of his Marine Historical Organization, took Morgan to Connecticut. Morgan met her tragic end in 1941 in Connecticut after Pearl Harbour perished in an attack.
