I am sure that Swift aimed to change Irish people’s minds and even encouraged them to take some action. He emphasized that Duplin (which was governed by the protestant minority at that time) had more butchers wishing to buy Irish children for a more significant price than the rest of the kingdom. I think he tried to show the population what they were waiting for: this horrible future with protestants in the government oppressing Irish Catholics.
