Throughout our existence, humans have adapted to the changing environment via evolution. Culture has played a key role in the development of the human species. Through social activities, our ancestors learned to manufacture tools and effectively divide food among the group, as well as preserve their emerging cultures. In turn, culture has influenced human biology to adapt the species for higher chances of survival. For example, Lotem et al. argue that tool-making and the development of language affected the structures of the human brain to better accommodate the knowledge acquired from societal groups. In addition to this, researchers have found that jaw anatomy has been altered after humans learned how to cook. Evidently, culture has had a significant effect on the species’ biology.

In my opinion, due to the development of the American culture, some of the human traits acquired through the process of evolution are not needed anymore. In the era of consumerism and globalization, people started cooking less and do not need to hunt to find food. Through cultural education, we are able to comprehend our biology and how it was influenced by evolution; however, culture also taught us that most genetic adaptations of our species are not significantly useful for our survival anymore.
