In her 1936 profile on Hitler, do you think Flanner is humanizing or dehumanizing him?

The article definitely portrays Hitler in a semi-sympathetic light, depicting him not as a power-crazy war maniac but as a person. Flanner begins the article by describing the man’s history, highlighting his mannerisms and talents as an artist, and even contemplates his health and his love life. Although the author uses the words like “dictator” in order to describe the man, it is obvious that her agenda is not to smear his political image or even highlight the atrocities conducted under the Nazi regime. Granted, most of them remained relatively unknown, and some were brushed under the rug in an attempt to improve relations in the wake of the 1936 Olympic Games, which the USA participated in.
