Andrew Jackson’s Presidency can be considered one of the most contradictory examples of how the highest executive power in the state impacted its growth and cultivated a new culture. However, despite all events that surround his term, all his actions evidence that much effort was devoted to the cultivation of democracy and attempted to improve the quality of people’s lives. His era can also be called the age of Revolution as Jackson’s activity resulted in the emergence of multiple changes in the structure of the U.S. society.
For instance, the elimination of the Second Bank of the United States, or a so-called Bank war, became a meaningful event in the state’s history as it stimulated the further rapid development of the economy and decreased people’s dependence on this institution. Additionally, struggling against elites that concentrated real power in their hands and trying to realize political equality mentioned in the Declaration of Independence, Jackson introduced a set of historically inevitable reforms.
These provided new authorities to the President with the primary aim to struggle against the corrupted government and promote the implementation of new approaches that will guarantee equal opportunities for people. In such a way, Jackson and his followers managed to create a new democratic ideology supported by voters who cut off the market revolution.
Nevertheless, there were also several contradictory decisions such as the Indian Removal Act or disregard of the problem of slavery; however, despite these problematic issues, the President’s policy was aimed at the creation of the basis for the further development of a young state. For this reason, analyzing Jackson’s Presidency and his contribution to the development of the USA, his actions and decisions are obviously preconditioned by the desire to care for the people of the state and protect them.
