Iago urges Othello to avoid jealousy because it would lead him to hurt the one he loves. Iago describes jealousy as a monster that would make Othello mock what he feeds on. By mocking, Iago means that Othello would be disrespecting his wife Desdemona, whom he loves. Iago advises Othello that if he allows jealousy to overcrowd his judgment, he will end up killing his loved wife.
