Explain how cells, proteins, deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) molecules, chromosomes, and genes are related to each other.

All living organisms are made up of cells that support growth and maintain life in accordance with directives found in their DNA molecules. Chromosomes within the cell are made of a single DNA molecule organized into genes.

DNA or deoxyribonucleic acid is composed of nitrogen-containing nucleobase, which is contained in sets of three – triplets. These triplets of nucleobases encode genetic information. In the process of gene expression, the DNA sequence is translated into a functional protein. There are two critical steps for protein production such as transcription and translation. These processes play a crucial role in protein activity and cell function.
