Awareness of aging is a concept that shows how individuals consider their age in a continuum of their lives. People of the younger generation often perceive older adults as those who cannot serve themselves and always require assistance. Many aging persons tend to revision their self-concept by acquiring more self-knowledge. Although there are some common features of aging, it is a rather subjective process largely affected by cultural norms and expectations. For example, if some older adults devote their lives to their families, it is not a norm in other communities in which older adults select traveling as their way of spending time. Indeed, it is important to listen to the older generation and their stories to clarify a lot of information about family traditions, diseases, and other issues. The continuity of generations and awareness of aging specifics provide the prospects for considering personal experience concerning aging processes.
