Describe and explain the role of the BRCA1 and breast cancer 2, early onset (BRCA2) gene in contribution as a risk factor for breast cancer. Analyze the risk factors for breast cancer and possible interventions to preventive health management for women and men.

Mutations in whichever of the two BRCA genes are transmittable to the next generations, due to which family history is on the list of risk factors for breast cancer. Other points beyond the patient’s control are age, to which the probability of developing a tumor is directly proportional, and increased breast density that may occur during pregnancy or menopause. Regarding the factors possible to minimize or eliminate, those are lifestyle-related ones, for instance, smoking, alcohol abuse, being significantly overweight, or a lack of psychical activity. In females, hormonal contraception is also associated with a risk of breast cancer. Leading a healthy lifestyle is apparently a relevant preventive measure for both genders, and its importance grows together with an individual’s age.
