There have long been heated debates on whether machines can think, and there is still no definite answer to that question. I believe that at the current level of development, computers cannot think, and I am not sure if they will ever have the ability to do so. However, mimicking human intelligence, the machine cannot perform unintelligent actions that people demonstrate all the time, such as the temptation to lie or the susceptibility to insults.
There are some objections to the notion that a machine does not have a thought process because it devises new ways of performing tasks by analyzing data. However, if a machine can perform some activities associated with intelligence, it still may not have the ability to perform unintelligent behavior and think like a human. The other objection to the statement that machines can think is that they perform what people have taught them to, therefore, simulating consciousness rather than having it.
