A groupware application, also known as collaborative software, can be defined as the application software, which is supposed to be used as a key tool for pursuing a particular goal as a team. According to the existing studies, “software projects are inherently co-operative.” Therefore, collaborative software facilitates efficient cooperation between group members. In other words, group software allows a group of people to work together for the sake of a common goal and achieve the optimum result within the shortest amount of time.
I should mention that I have had experience using group software. As my group mates and I were participating in an academic project and were supposed to create a presentation of our major findings, we decided to use group software. Thus, it was possible for us to work on the project remotely and be able to update the work regularly. Despite the fact that the group software allowed us to finish the project, there were a number of issues to deal with in the process. For instance, the fact that each of us could update the work without notifying the rest of the team led to major misunderstandings; as a result, the process of working on the project in question was scheduled, and a special journal was created to report about the changes that were made to the paper. Although there were several major confusions, my friends and I succeeded in creating an original and impressive presentation.
