Watch The Blind Side film. Give an example of each of the destructive conflict patterns identified as “The Four Horsemen”: Criticism, Defensiveness, Contempt, Stonewalling.

Criticism is a pattern that consists of attacks on a person’s character—for instance, the teacher judge Michael based on his poor grades in school. Defensive is a destructive pattern that protects one by denying responsibility. In the film, Michael’s mother escapes from being there for her son as she adapts to being an alcoholic. Contempt demeans other individuals; Anne’s friends talk of Michael harming Collins, yet they do not spend time with him. Stonewalling occurs when a person starts to withdraw from interactions with people. Due to racism, Michael is forced to live a lonely life with his colleagues in school.
