Discuss all the questions below: a. Based on the authors’ statements, what is an appropriate age for someone to have a profile on a social network site? b. What specific concerns do the authors have about students’ privacy online? c. What danger do hackers pose to young people? d. What do the authors mean by “moral disconnect”? e. Why should students care if businesses are trying to sell them something based on access to their online profile? f. What are the differences between making friends online and making them face-to-face? g. Given the authors’ concerns about social media sites, what would their attitudes be about cell phones? Online games?

The authors of the article suggest that social networks should not be used by children or adolescents at all and claim that only adults must create profiles. They are concerned that children freely and voluntarily share private videos and photos, which may expose some of their unfavorable behaviors to the public. As a result, their personal and academic future may be put at risk.

Hackers threaten young persons’ physical and psychological safety, as well as the overall welfare of their families, because the former may easily access confidential information and utilize it for their own gain. Also, since children lack experience, they may also be frequently cheated and manipulated by businesses and scams online. Young online users must care about it because by agreeing to buy something from them, they often reveal personal information.

Besides, adolescents can be morally disconnected from others on digital platforms which allows them to say hurtful things anonymously and/or without any visible consequences. They also forget that online friendships are superficial, whereas deep and meaningful ones can be formed only through face-to-face contact. Due to all of this, any use of technology by kids must be limited, including phones and online games.
