The alternation of dark and colored rings on the screen is caused by an obstacle in the light beam’s path. If the linear size of the slit is commensurate with the wavelength, then diffraction is possible. Doubling of slits works as a creation of coherent sources, which means that each of them will form a secondary wave, leading to an interference pattern: alternation of dark and colored bands.
