Communitarian critique of liberalism can be partly accepted, especially when we are speaking about the role of government. The thing is that some advocates of liberalism support the idea that government should intervene as little as possible in the private lives of people. However, it also may suggest that the state should adopt a laisser-faire attitude toward the life of a society. Communitarians argue that such an attitude would result in a situation when the government will have no interest in rectifying social injustice. So, this social institution may become useless.
However, communitarianism does not provide any alternatives to such elements of liberalism as a capitalist economy, the right to property, or free trade. It is easier to criticize liberalism for its imperfections, but it is difficult to find a functional substitute for it.
