What was President Arthur’s stance on Federal Indian Policy?

During President Arthur’s government, Native American conflicts with the whites were subsiding. More individuals were beginning to realize the need to safeguard the Native Americans’ rights. In the year 1884, President Arthur asserted that the Native Americans’ education funding was supposed to be increased. Equally, the president proposed that individual native Indians were supposed to be given permits to own land. Although the president never succeeded in convincing Congress to adopt his ideas, his initiatives are seen as positive steps towards achieving equitable societies in America.
