The legalization of prostitution can lead to a general decrease in the moral norms of society. However, it can also contribute to positive changes, such as reducing the level of sexually transmitted diseases and recognizing prostitution as a type of commercial activity involving taxation of income. The legal position of this activity will make it more amendable for governmental regulation, and prostitutes will become socially protected due to providing social guarantees such as paid sick leave, vacations, and pensions.
Thus, from my point of view, prostitution should be legalized because it implies recognition of this profession, including the change in public opinion, which at the moment considers this occupation shameful. This profession will never disappear because there is always a demand for such services. As a result, if the problem cannot be eliminated, the government can only ensure better conditions for people working in this sphere through legalization.
