It is not easy to describe a relationship as intensely personal as a believer’s with Jesus Christ. I grew up in a Christian family, and as a child, I accepted many things other people told me about Him without taking the time even to consider or internalize them. He remained at a distance from me. Only as I reached maturity and witnessed the true state of the world did my eyes open to the true miraculousness of His existence and teachings. Now Jesus is my best friend, teacher, and protective older brother. He is the perfect example of how to live a worthy and honorable life.
And yet, He still possesses the capacity to see and accept my soul in its entirety, with all its corners of light and dark. He understands that sometimes I am tempted by the easy path but never judges me for it because He knows that the His words remain my sole guiding light. Instead, Jesus offers me pure love and a helping hand, with the calm certainty that I can deal with whatever difficulties I face. In fact, they will only strengthen my soul so I might be transformed into a better version of myself and serve Him more faithfully.
