It must be emphasized that the prospects for the fast fashion industry are strongly influenced by the sustainability of water resources. The fact is that one of the potential environmental threats to humanity is the pollution of the world’s oceans, as well as fresh waters.

Although the fact itself will not affect the fashion business, it significantly aggravates and reduces the effectiveness of the tools used by industries. For example, clothes are made from cotton and linen, which do not grow everywhere but only in certain countries. As a rule, such countries are not rich, so a large number of workers there are engaged in gathering such plants.

Accordingly, the deterioration of water quality leads to the loss of valuable plants that serve as primary raw materials. Thus, either the volume of manufactured clothes will decrease, or their quality will fall, hence the competitiveness of industries. Given that fast fashion involves production on a large scale, this issue is most acute in this area.
