Informational conformity occurs when people turn to a group searching for information — for example, deciding which products to buy or which members of the group who are not part of the group can be trusted. Normative conformity means a change in behavior and beliefs due to this collection of information. For example, having gathered the information about the properties of products, an individual decides to buy goods different from what he usually takes based on their calories value. So, the two types of conformity work together to change behavior and promote social cohesion.
