Mechanization would increase the productivity of workers, ultimately benefiting the economy. However, it would also have reduced the number of workers required to perform a task, potentially destroying jobs. However, in general, the American System would accept mechanization and incorporate it to improve efficiency and growth. With that said, other countries may develop technological advances and refuse to share them with Americans unless they accepted open tariff-free trade. Ultimately, advancement, including mechanization, would be beneficial but have the potential to create isolationism and stagnation.
The American System would require considerable communication to sustain itself and accommodate the changes that would occur with time. The nation’s workers and business people would have to relay their concerns to ensure that the legislators would hear and address them. Moreover, the United States would have to communicate with other nations to maintain a steady flow of international commerce despite the high tariffs. Lastly, Congressmen would have to discuss matters with their constituents and their colleagues in detail to make informed decisions that would improve the economy.
