An informational interview is a conversation with a person about their job, organization, area of specialty and any other related professional concerns. I would love for you to actually do this, but with current conditions it might be too ambitious. However, I will ask you to think of someone specifically that you could contact in the future who has the job you want for yourself. Who is it and what do they do? How would/could you get in touch with them? (email, telephone, social media) Do they work for a company, someone else or themselves? What makes you think that this person loves their career that you would want it for yourself?

I would like to interview Dr. Chelsey Rosen, a licensed school psychologist. Dr. Rosen works at Manhattan Psychology Group and is a part of the team offering psychological services to children. Dr. Rosen’s dedication to the job is evident as she specializes in several therapeutic approaches, participates in various conferences, and provides coaching for school personnel. I would contact Dr. Rosen through the phone number provided on the Manhattan Psychology group website and ask the following questions:

  • What are the greatest challenges when working with foster care children with mental health issues?
  • How to stay impartial while remaining empathetic when working with children and adolescents?
  • How to work with parents and foster parents who do not believe in the value of psychological assistance?
