Ethically speaking, Comcast’s favoritism is not accepted in the entertainment industry. Though it is logically practical for one to favor their industry for competitive advantage, it is not always the solution. If I were a Comcast executive, I would consider putting forth a fairground for all drivers to air their content without discrimination. The four significant considerations for the DOJ and the FCC to examine in authorizing the merger are addressed in the report released by some researchers.

A group of NBC affiliates agreed to support the merger on the condition that anti-siphoning rules be implemented to ensure that big-ticket sporting events aren’t pushed to Comcast’s cable business and that the company won’t bypass local broadcast stations and deliver an NBC same-day feed via cable if retransmission negotiations fail. Comcast is the only major cable operator that did not sign the petition to petition the FCC for new restrictions on retransmission consent discussions.
