Why is the Moneyball method called so? What is the reference to a sports book or movie and what is the application to Legendary?

The movie industry has adopted Moneyball methods to succeed in ticket sales during movie rentals. For sales to be high, Matthew Marolda, CEO, and analyst of Legendary Entertainment (LE) use analytics to sell movie tickets successfully. Before joining the Legendary Entertainment team, Marolda founded StratBridge, which developed software for organizations such as the NFL, NBA, European Football, and major league football with Moneyball player analysis, dynamic pricing, and revenue analysis.

While working at Legendary Entertainment, Marolda advises how to make movies, what actors to choose, and when to rent a finished film. Marolda’s team looks for information on social networks, such as Twitter and Facebook, to determine the scope of a project’s audience and to focus on new projects in the future.
