Cognitive dissonance is psychological discomfort that arises when an individual holds two or more inconsistent attitudes, cognition, and behavior. Cognitive dissonance is mostly experienced when an individual understands the consequences of behavior but still engages in bad behaviors. I am a victim of cognitive dissonance because of some decisions I made in the past that were affected by behavior.

While I was in my first year at University, I met a group of friends who engaged in drugs. My friends later influenced me to take drugs. I knew taking drugs was wrong and that it would lead to poor health and bad behaviors. I later realized engaging in drugs affected my cognitive behavior when I started failing in class and skipping classes.
