What is a plasma membrane?

The plasma membrane should be called the elastic structure of each cell, which delimits the internal contents dissolved in the cytoplasm from the external environment and other cells. The membrane is not entirely tight: in order to provide resource and energy exchange, the plasma membrane has pores (transmembrane proteins) and various mechanisms of active and passive transport.
