My company was established in 1975 in UAE, and for the past three years, it has had a strong market presence despite increasing competition among the key players. It is a leading contractor in the Middle East with being the largest UAE construction and engineering firm by market value.

From the company’s background, we can easily conclude that the company is really a very successful one. Its activities have been limited not only to high rise development but also to other areas like hotel interiors, residential complexes, office blocks, commercial and industrial projects, Major Airport Developments (Terminals, Lounges, Hangers, Air Traffic Control Towers, Cargo Buildings, Passenger Buildings), Stadiums, Drainage, Sewage Treatment Plant, Offshore Oil and Gas Installations, cinemas, entertainment, facilities, residential complexes, and luxury villas, etc. so we can say that it has not limited itself to just one sphere of the construction business and put its hand into every construction field be it related to the entertainment industry or social welfare works like drainage. On the other hand, be it personal projects like residential complexes and luxury villas.

We know that a company’s success depends not only on the proper functioning of the company but its employees, its vision, goals, and objectives and how the organization associates with it, and how effective and efficient they are in the long run. Moreover, in this situation, we have come to the conclusion that the organization has been able to work as expected and turn its vision and goals into reality. So we can also say that the management of the company was able and a good leader.

We also know that the success of a company is not only because of the proper working of the management and its employees but is due to a good organizational design and structure. Until an, unless the design is proper, you can’t expect the organization to work properly, because if the design is not up to the mark, then every employee won’t be involved, so there might be a situation when that employee won’t give his 100%. This success is also because the organization was successful in dividing its work, and so we can say that it was due to the efficient and effective use of the resources by the management. From the background, we can also say that the management was able to successfully give attention to the market scenario and take advantage of formulating a proper plan to tap the market. It was also able to understand the strength, weaknesses and motivate its employees so that they could give their 100% to the organization. Well, we also know that the company has its headquarters in different countries. This shows that they are efficient enough to handle globalization. That is, its HR team is efficient enough to handle the pressure and go global.

Well, from the organizational chart, we can make out that the organization works on the hierarchal model. It is a mechanistic model. Well, we can say that this though it is not a very desirable design and it was mostly used beforehand but still, in this case, it has been a success. This model has a certain classification and is distinct from the other models used now a day.

This design is highly specialized, which means that each department knows what they are doing, and they are highly qualified to handle those situations. Each department is responsible for its work, and other departments do not interfere or are not related to the working of each department. The subordinates are required to report to their immediate seniors, and they do not have to go to other departments. Therefore, we can say that no two departments are interrelated, and they do not interfere in the working of each other.

It is very clear as to whom each employee has to report, and so the command of control is very clear. The employees are required to report only to their immediate seniors, and they are answerable only to them. Each department head can control only its subordinates and cannot interfere with the working of the other department. He will have to take prior permission if he has to deal with other department employees. He can only control and give orders to those who are under him and cannot expect that other department people will report to him. Therefore, this means that the head has got limited power allotted to him, which he can only exert on his subordinates in his department.

This also means that each department is highly centralized among each other that are each department knows what is required of them, and they work as expected. Apart from that, we can also say that this structure has been successful for my company because it has been able to maintain its growth for the past three years even though the competition has increased.

Well as far as I am, concerned this design is really good and working in the interest of the company but we cannot expect to grow further with this kind of model. Now a few things are lacking. For example, it is believed to give orders to the subordinates. All the employees are not included in the decision-making process. That is, they are not well aware of the internal working of the organization. Apart from that, in this design, the urge to change is minimal. They do not facilitate changes. It is mostly resisted. No department is interrelated. They do not know what is happening in other departments. The employees are answerable only to their immediate seniors, so the others cannot question them, and to do so, they will need the permission of the management.

The most difficult part of any plan of action is to create a new organizational structure. At first, I will do systematic planning to fit all the policies of the company. A new organizational chart should be made such as to avoid any political conflict and power-play problems. It should be according to the laws of the country and in favor of the people and employees. It should focus on the competition in the market and be beneficial for the organization in the long run. All the contributions of the employees should show.

My model is an organic model.

I know that it is not necessary that you always have to change and that the change will be a success, but I believe that we have to change with time and try to improve ourselves on our shortcomings. Therefore, in this case, my plan of action will be that instead of a hierarchical model, we can have an organic model. I am not saying this because I want to change the working of the organization, or I want to bring a revolution in my organization. Nevertheless, I am saying this because we have to change with time so that in the end, we do not remain lagging in anything. I am proposing this model because this really helps in increasing the coordination and cooperation among the employees. Here all the departments are interrelated, and all the employees are answerable to anyone from the organization. They can go to any senior from any department with his problems and suggestions. The problem of one department is the problem of the other department also. This design believes in working as a team, and the satisfaction of the customers is the main thing important here. In this design, the hierarchy is reduced to a minimal level, and any backlog is eliminated. Here the teams are facilitated.
