The five steps towards community mobilization include: assessing community needs, resources, and issues. Identifying a partner, designing, testing, and producing social mobilization materials, choosing and training mobilizers, and implementing and monitoring social mobilizations.
Assessing community needs, resources, and issues and designing a strategy –taking an evaluation to understand the context of the community, including potential barriers and facilitators. Then develop a social mobilization strategy.
Identify a partner- This includes finding a partner who will help in the implementation of the project. Design, test, and produce social mobilization materials – this involves designing relevant materials for the mobilization, including identifying revenant equipment needs, identifying the local language used, and designing pretested prototypes.
Choosing and training mobilizers – will involve choosing mobilizers according to the set criteria. For instance, those willing to volunteer must be over 18 years and must know about the project. Implementing and monitoring social mobilizations – involves implementing the mobilization plan and measuring its progress so that it is easy to make adjustable decisions.
