How do news values/criteria compare and contrast across the three outlets?

The news presented in the sources will be classified by the five news values/criteria, including actuality, relevance, identification, sensation, and exclusiveness.

  • The first source twitter.com/sphasiaone provides actual information; the messages are posted almost every hour. The news is relevant as it touches upon the social problem and, thus, represents the concerns of most part of the population. The readers are able to identify with the topic. According to the criteria of sensation, the presented news seems to arouse the interest and, sometimes, the surprise of the readers. The media cannot get the exclusiveness on the presented news as Twitter as the social media only provides the links to the first sources.
  • The second source news.asiaone.com presents the actual information as the news is updated frequently on the website. The information presented is relevant for a broad audience. The readers are able to identify with the topic. The news presented arouses feelings of surprise and delight. The media can provide exclusive news.
  • The article Ban on Consumption of Alcohol in Public Places in Little India Stays from the newspaper The Straits Times presents the actual information as it is the daily newspaper and, thus, it publishes the most recent news. The information provided by the media is relevant as it touches upon the events occurring in Singapore’s society. The readers are able to identify with the topic. The presented news is interesting for the broad audience. As one of the leading Singapore newspapers, The Straits Times can get exclusiveness on the news.
