The most important portion of the forest, which stored the greatest amount of energy, was the watersheds which comprised of a series of water bodies emanating from the forest. This can be explained by the fact plants themselves do not store significant amounts of energy because some of the energy is used to remove electrons from the green coloring matter (chlorophyll). Watersheds in the forest, just like the hydrosphere, store a large amount of energy.
