Social inclusion should be promoted by the media; however, merely encouraging individuals to be acceptive is not enough. The articles have confirmed my belief that it is necessary to create relevant policies that support inclusion in various contexts, such as education, work environment, entertainment, and others. In particular, supporting organizations should target specific vulnerable populations that require assistance in social integration or reintegration.
For example, as reported by Schnittker, community support is needed to reduce disability-related risks for veterans and lower the negative impact on mental and physical health. Overall, raising awareness is the first step towards a more inclusive society that treats everyone in a fair manner and is accepting of all people, valuing their strengths and abilities. Furthermore, national- and organizational-level policies can promote practices that support individuals with disabilities.
