How did the telephone industry undershoot initial customers (late 1800s)? Explain how this phenomenon still exists or doesn’t exist in the mobile telephone industry?

The telephone industry of the 1800s was characterized by the operation of numerous companies, but the quality of telephone communication was limited due to technological issues. The emergence of AT&T, the giant that quite monopolized the market and created its own network, made telephone communication easy and affordable for mainstream customers. The modern mobile telephone industry also has some examples of undershooting customers. Establishing their networks in new areas (expanding to new markets), they provide their customers with an opportunity to communicate with people from different countries at a lower price.
