The interpretation of love by Plato is widely revealed in his Symposium, which is translated into medieval love songs. The theme of dialogues is the ascent of a man to the supreme good, which is nothing but the embodiment of the idea of heavenly love. As true sins, they speak not of love in itself, but of that which is due to one of the gods. The theme of immortality can be traced in the medieval love songs where people try to preserve their beloved ones forever. Only a person who sees beauty can live in contemplation and peace with others. The key idea is that people should strive for the best from the very beginning and gradually rise, thus acquiring eternal love. The medieval songs reflect these ideas, yet they are more focused on the religious side of life and are more inclined to propose the greatness of God.
