Patient compliance is defined as a patient’s commitment to follow a health worker’s recommendations with regard to their treatment plan. A disease implies some changes in a patient’s life that they need to accept and acknowledge. A health worker cannot always be around to control how well a patient is adhering to what is prescribed. Therefore, it is imperative that they take responsibility for their own health and adopt self-management strategies to fight or at least relieve disease. If a patient fails to comply for any reason, the treatment regimen might prove to be inefficient at best and dangerous at worst.
