Art Exhibition and Its Connection to Black History

Spend an hour or more at an online museum, archive, or cultural institution and reflect on how the exhibit and the works featured fit into the narrative of Black history.

Control of an image lies in who crafts it:

• How does that play with the narrative of the exhibit that you chose?
• Why were these images captured? Who is the intended audience?
• Will different audiences view the photos differently? Why?
• What does it mean to study the intersection of art and Black history?
• Where do these exhibits fit into the Black Diaspora Foodways timeline?
• What are they saying? What is the purpose of the exhibit? Do they add to our understanding of Black visual culture?
• How do they fit into the narrative laid out by the readings?
